Ziyu Liu’s Bio

Liu Ziyu, born in 1998, is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding and influential young Chinese pianists of the post-95 generation. He is known for his unique artistic identity and has quickly become one of the most active and prominent rising stars in the classical music scene. In 2024, Liu launched a world tour titled “Outlook,” performing in major concert halls across nearly 40 cities worldwide, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Vienna’s Golden Hall, and Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts. His performances have garnered significant industry attention.
Liu has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Golden Hall of Vienna, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts. He has also been invited to major European festivals, including the Kissinger Sommer Festival in Germany, where his performances were highly praised for their clarity and narrative depth.
As a rising artist, Liu’s recent Beethoven project has attracted widespread attention. His album, Beethoven: The Late Piano Sonatas, received critical acclaim, and his interpretation of Beethoven’s late works has been praised for its maturity and insight.
Liu studied at the Central Conservatory of Music under renowned Chinese professor Ling Yuan and later continued his studies at the University of Music, Drama, and Media Hannover in Germany under Professors Ewa Kupiec and Arie Vardi.
He has received numerous accolades in major international competitions, including becoming the first Chinese winner of the Viotti International Music Competition. Liu is also recognized for his significant academic contributions to classical music, delivering lectures and masterclasses at prestigious institutions like Peking University and Central Conservatory of Music.
Liu is a passionate advocate for promoting Chinese piano compositions globally. He has collaborated closely with renowned composer Zhang Chao, performing the European premiere of Zhang’s Numaa Mei, which received widespread acclaim.
